Another 5 minutes went by and we asked that if our orders were "ready", where was it? The response we got was, "it's coming". The waitress came over to our table and said "it's ready". Mind you, this is nearly an hour after our order was taken. This time the waitress stuck her head in the kitchen and asked the cooks if they started on our order. Another 5 minutes went by and we inquired again about our food. We were assured by the waitress that they "were working on it". A glance into the adjoining dining room revealed 2 couples at two separate tables and another table with a party of 5. Our waitress came out and said the kitchen was really busy preparing meals for a large group and the cooks were working on our order. We got a blank stare from the individual at the counter and she called into the kitchen for our waitress. Another 15 minutes went by and one of us went up to the cashier's counter and asked about our food. Our response was "no, we're still waiting for our food". 30 minutes went by and finally our waitress came by and asked if everything was ok. Once we were seated, our orders were taken and water was brought to our table about 5 minutes later. Although the place was not busy and no one was waiting in front of us, we were ignored for 5-6 minutes. Rather than stop at any of the fast food chain restaurants, we decided to try the Space Age Restaurant expecting a good taste of the local cuisine. This is the first time I can honestly say that you might be happier eating at one of the fast food restaurants in town.Īfter a 2 hour road trip, we were tired and hungry when we reached Gila Bend. Management need not reply with the usual pap about how these comments will help them improve in the future. They desperately need to implement some basic restaurant systems and try actually cooking some fresh food. The good things I can say about the restaurant are that the decorations were attractive, if a bit strange, and the place looked clean. We were instructed to take the bill to the register and each couple could identify the items they had and the cashier would compute the total. As to the splitting of the check 3 ways, no dice. I'd also guess there were numerous freezers back there. My guess is that there was very little fresh food coming out of the kitchen. Another lady at the table was unhappy with her french fries, saying they were soggy & undercooked. My side of bacon was 2 strips instead of the 3 that the menu specified. My order of pancakes was OK but again not hot. My wife's omelette and the accompanying sides, fresh from the kitchen, was not hot. That belonged to another guy at the table. When we said we'd already gotten it, she said, no, that's a ham and cheese. A couple of minutes later, a different server came with what she identified as another Denver. My wife was served what the server identified as a Denver omelette, which was what she ordered. When our food finally arrived, every dish had the same question attached - who ordered (whatever it was)? No attempt to code the order with seat position. Service was slow and not particularly friendly I let our server know that we would like 3 checks and her response was that she would put the order in and then sort that out later. We were seated at a table for 6 and there were 3 couples. We were part of a group of 14 who were later joined by another similarly sized group. This time bad was a word that could be applied to most aspects of our experience. This was our 2nd time eating here and I had vague memories of the first visit not being too bad.
